What a wonderful world: inside this year’s Net Zero Festival

This year, we started working with Incisive Media and it was our first time managing the PR for its growing event Net Zero Festival, a slow burn of a campaign focusing on building the profile of James Murray, editor-in-chief of Business Green magazine and co-founder of Net Zero Festival from six months out, followed by a flurry of activity 8 weeks pre-show to drive visitor awareness, registrations and press attendance
We also helped to launch the very first Net Zero Pioneers Report, which details 50 of the UK's most cutting-edge organisations leading the charge to achieve the goals King Charles laid out in his COP28 speech: a greener, nature-friendly future.
And, of course, we ran the press office onsite at the Business Design Centre in London, and what a couple of days it was! From meeting Alastair Campbell and being featured on his Instagram Stories to listening to Joanna Lumley share her insight about everything net zero from vegetarianism to nuclear power. Net Zero Festival brings together some of the world's foremost thinkers on what it takes to accelerate and expand the net-zero transition.
And as for the results of our hard work?
58 pieces of coverage across online publications, podcasts, event listings and social media posts, with a huge reach of 156.5m.
Video coverage from Sky News which features an overview of the festival and an interview with Alistair Campbell.
Interviews set up following the launch of the Pioneers Report with a host of journalists including: Newsweek, Internet Retailing, Fintech Finance, TechInspired and more.
27 journalists in attendance (up from single figures last year) from high-quality media outlets including Sky News, Bloomberg, Sustainability Beat, Press Association, Sustainable Times and more.
The Net Zero Festival team had used three PR agencies in three years and loved how easy it was to work with us, how proactive and collaborative we are and the results we achieved. We smashed previous coverage and press attendance records.
Big Top founder Charlie Le Rougetel said: “We loved being the driving force behind the press for such a worthy and progressive event. Massive well done to all involved, especially the brilliant Incisive Media team who gave us everything we needed to achieve the results we got. We’ve already heard some of the plans for next year and can’t wait to get started.”
